With Turkey being the most southern of all the European countries it offers some of the best Mediterranean beaches and a sunny all-year round climate. Turkey is the country which links Europe with Asia and has a diverse population and culture to be admired; Roman Empires have left behind magnificent ruins which have been well preserved and are enjoyed by many tourists today.
A Turkey Holiday is popular year after year for the top class modern hotels which occupy fabulous locations overlooking the glorious beaches. The food is another reason people love to stay – Greek, Persian and Middle Eastern foods come together to make mouth-watering Turkish cuisine. Of course if your palette prefers something more familiar, English food is served too, in fact there’s so much choice with many restaurants serving buffet style meals.
Visiting one of Turkey’s many towns is a must. Take in the atmosphere wandering down narrow market streets and bartering in one of the many colourful bazaars. Eat and drink in one of the many outdoor coffee shops or restaurants whilst you soak up the sun and inhale the spices in the air. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels out of this world, consider Cappadocia which is a famous world heritage site.
There are many little villages, bustling towns and pretty bays to be explored in Turkey, so why not take advantage of the cheap public transport? Mini buses are frequent and travel up and down the coast and from town to town, you can hop on one for next to nothing. Check with your hotel to find out where the nearest stops are. If you’re keen on adventure you can hire bikes and head inland to explore little hidden villages and churches dotted across the hills.
That’s holiday heaven!
